I'm a freelance model based in Toronto, Canada. I've been involved in this wonderfully fickle modeling industry since the age of 16 (on and off). I started off in the fashion modeling realm initially, since it was the only kind I was familiar with at that age. Unfortunately for me, that didn't really go anywhere as I didn't have the height or the look to fit into the Toronto fashion market. I left modeling by the wayside for a few years between the ages of 19-21 when I figured it wasn't a career option for me and turned my focus to more "stable" jobs.
I was never in this industry to make myself a name, or to be the next "supermodel", I knew I would never be quite the right fit for that genre. I was too stubborn about looking how I wanted to look. Tattoos, piercings, etc were a big no-no and I most certainly wasn't about to be told what I could and couldn't put on my body....lol. It was all more or less a curiosity to see if I could get anywhere with it. So in the end I went my own path, got a few tattoos, a few piercings, and left the modeling world behind.
Then when I was 21, I did a creative shoot with a friend and a photographer she knew who wanted girls to work with to help perfect his photography. Did a few shoots with him, and the next thing I know, I'm bubbling over with ideas for photoshoots and costume designs and locations and storylines. I became a "model" again, but my reasons this time around were for the fun of helping to "create" art by bringing to the work aspects of myself. The modeling is, for me, one facet of my artistic expression.
I eventually found my way around to the WWW, and found it to be a very useful tool. Once I set up on the web, the world became a lot smaller quickly, and I've come into contact with people all over the globe. My website functions as my agent now, with myself in full control. Since carving myself a niche as a freelance model, I could never go back to letting someone else run my career. Aside from being functional as a promoting tool, my site has also become an artistic outlet for myself. It's all about presentation in the end.
Now, as a model, I continue to scour the web for talented photographers that peak my interest and help inspire new ideas in my mind with their style. My modeling work will always be a collaboration between myself and the photographers I work with, which I hope brings a new dimension to the work I produce. The realm of fetish art boasts a genre of photographers and works that aren't so much about simply models making clothes look good, but about an attitude, a certain decadence, and a certain ideaology still not fully accepted or understood by the mainstream. It's about pushing the envelope of what is visually acceptable and beautiful, and it is here that I have found my little niche in this world.
So that's the basics on myself and my site. If you're the super curious type, I have a more personal bio here, and if you're interested in learning even more about me, you can read through an interview done by Seventh Circle. Check back regularily for the new work and, as always, feel free to contact me and let me know what you think. Have a good one.
